Abstract

Sayyed Said Ali Saani Gilani is a distinguished contemporary scholar whose research has significantly contributed to the study of the Qadriya Sufi Order, the biographies of Sufi saints, and the preservation of spiritual lineages in the Indian subcontinent. As the Chief Administrator of Idara Sawt-e-Haadi and a scholarly heir of the Khanwada of Data Shah Chiragh, he possesses unique access to family traditions and historical records, which strengthens the authenticity of his research. His writings are marked by objectivity, critical analysis, and strict adherence to scholarly methodology. Through his major works including Seerat-o-Sawaaneh Hazrat Sayyed Abdul Razzaq Gilani Maroof Data Shah Chiragh Lahori, Anees al-Mazaahir fi Seerat as-Sayyed Abdul Qaadir Jilani, and Hasb-e-Maraatib he has systematically documented the history, spiritual teachings, and intellectual heritage of the Qadriya Order. By critically examining earlier sources and distinguishing authentic traditions from unreliable accounts, Gilani has filled a significant research gap in the historiography of the Qadriya lineage after the works of Shaykh Abdul Haqq Muhaddith Dehlavi. His writings not only present historical narratives but also serve as reformative guides that encourage the followers of the Order to uphold the ethical and spiritual ideals of their predecessors. Consequently, his works hold an important place in contemporary Islamic and Sufi scholarship.
