Abstract
Ashraa is a new poetic genre of contemporary Urdu poem. It consists of ten lines. In recent times it has gained wide popularity with the new generation. A few months ago Idris Babur who is also the initiator of this genre, published his first collection of Ashraas in book form. This study is aimed at to determine the limits and possibilities of this new genre in the realm of contemporary Urdu poetry.
